Favorite Halloween Treats in NYC

Is everybody ready? Do you have your bowls of candy at the door, ready to be handed out to the trick or treaters? But what about us? I have grown tired of stealing bite size chocolates out of the stash, I’m ready for a treat designed for me! There are of course plenty of options here in New York, and below I’ll give you some suggestions of some delightful Halloween treats for any age found right here in the NYC! Happy Halloween!

Magnolia Bakery

This very popular bakery is always prepared for a holiday. With locations all over the city, it’s not hard to find one. The cakes and cupcakes are not only delicious, but also decorated in the most adorable way. Besides the ghoulish treats, the Daily Cupcake is Pumpkin Spice with caramel cream cheese icing and surgared cranberries. Hurry….

Dominique Ansel

Dominique Ansel’s bakery is a premier shop downtown in the city, and his baked goods are of supreme quality. Everything is good here in my opinion, and for Halloween he’s come up with a Candy Corn Mousse Cake made with sweet corn mousse, orange mousse and vanilla mousse, layered on top of a soft almond biscuit. Delightful.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

Dylan’s Candy Bar on the Upper Eastside is probably the place to be on Halloween. Serving up sweet treats all year around, this is their holiday to shine. Of course there are endless options to satisfy your craving here, in all price ranges. My favorite here are the Marshmallows covered in Belgian Chocolate, decorated in the most adorable Halloween motif. You’ll get 6 for $30.00. Share! Or don’t…..

Du’s Donuts

This delightful Donut Shop is actually in Brooklyn, and worth a couple of stops on the subway, unless you already live in Brooklyn, like many of you do. Halloween or not, Chef Wylie Dufresne recipe for his New England style Donuts is irresistible. If you can’t make it there, Du’s Donuts delivers nationwide. Get yourself a Halloween Special Dozen!

Jacques Torres

Chocolate is King on Halloween! Snickers, Twix, 3 Musketeers, all of them are handed out in buckets today. If, however, you want to spoil yourself (or someone close to your heart) with a little bit of gourmet chocolate, then find your way to Jacques Torres. He has locations all over the city, and you will be greeted by a sea of chocolate, lots of it decorated and designed for Halloween. My favorite here is the Scary Duo, which will run you an impressive $74.99, but I think it’s worth it.

Author: Gotham Foodie

Hello there, fellow foodies! My name is Erica, I was born and raised in Germany, and moved to the US, New York City to be exact, in July of 1987. I have worked most of my time here in the Big Apple as a bartender, but my true love is food. I cook just about every day, I search for good food everywhere, and pretty much always find it. I don't consider myself a food critic, I don't have the culinary background for that kind of expertise. I do however know good food, good chefs and good restaurants. I report back about my culinary adventures, and I choose to leave out my unsatisfactory experiences. We have enough negativity in our daily lives, I don't want to add to that. All the recipes in my FROM MY KITCHEN and DOTW blogs are cooked and prepared by me. All pictures are taken by me. I don't always eat everything you see in my pictures, but you bet your buns, I do try everything. Last but not least, you should know that I am a huge Top Chef fan. I have never missed an episode of the Bravo TV show. I have at this point visited almost 20 restaurants run by Top Chef contestants, and I'm continuously impressed by their skill, drive and passion. So I will continue to seek them out, and I hope you join me in my journey!
