3 Meals in Manhattan

I’m constantly out to eat. Brunch, lunch, dinner, uptown, midtown, downtown, you name it, I’ve done it! It’s one of my favorite things to do, and I’ve become even more knowledgeable on where to find the best food in the city. Following you find three of my favorite meals over the past few months!

Brunch: Streetbird

This colorful restaurant in Harlem is owned by Marcus Samuelsson, chef and entertainer extraordinaire. If you watch enough food television, he should be a familiar face to you. It’s absolutely a favorite brunch spot for me, and recently I visited with my daughter and her friend in tow. We had Chicken and Waffles with a crispy chicken thigh and Maple Syrup, it’s without a doubt some of the best in the city. We added Biscuits and Gravy with fried chicken, the chicken being crunchy and tasty. Shrimp and Grits with White Cheddar Grits and a spicy tomato sauce had us all taking bites with delight. To top it off we ordered the Crispy Bird Sandwich with Smokey Q. Aioli and pickles, and a side order of their delicious Mac ‘N’ Cheese. Needless to say we couldn’t eat anything for the rest of the day, but honestly, this is one of my most beloved brunch spots in the city. Not only do I love the food and atmosphere, but the drinks are a kicker as well!

Lunch: Upland

Just recently, on my search for the perfect burger, I found myself at Upland in the Flatiron District. It is without a doubt one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve been to for sure, decorated with jarred lemons that steal the show. Their Californian cuisine offers Italian influenced dishes of the highest quality. Of course I had the Upland Cheeseburger made of grass fed beef with American cheese, peppadew peppers and avocado, it’s love at first bite. I accompanied my meal with a Little Gem salad, which is a large serving of lettuce, avocado, cucumbers, ricotta salata with a walnut vinaigrette. It’s super fresh, different and tasty. It’ s an ideal lunch spot!

Dinner: Lure Fishbar

For dinner my daughter and I found ourselves at the very popular Lure Fishbar in the Village. It is designed to look like the inside of a luxury yacht, the light is dim and romantic, the atmosphere is upbeat and energetic. A young professional crowd keeps it fun and entertaining. Their menu has some of my favorite foods ever, so we ordered a little bit of everything. A must for me were of course their fresh oysters to start with, including my numero uno East Beach Blondes. Next to them we had some excellent Deviled Eggs with caviar. Our main dishes were the Classic Lobster Roll with Salt and Vinegar Chips and their famous Lure Style Burger topped with onion rings. This burger is named one of the best in the city, and for good reason. It was delicious. This popular spot is a must try!
