Burger Bonanza

Everyone loves a good burger, it’s as American as American can be. As a blogger I’m constantly eating different or even upscale food, food from different countries, but often I just fall back on the good old burger, and below you will find ten of the ones I enjoyed the most. Some of them are branded the best in the city, some of them are my personal favorites, but they all rock!

The Spotted Pig – The Michelin Star One

This very interesting restaurant actually just recently lost its Michelin Star, but I doubt it’s because of their burger, because it is heavenly. Cooked to order, it is topped with Roquefort Cheese and served with (amazinggggg) shoe string fries. It’s Burger Heaven.

DB Bistro Moderne – The Gourmet One

The Original DB Burger is as gourmet as you can imagine. Prepared with Sirloin Beef, filled with Braised Short Ribs, Foie Gras and Black Truffle, this one will hit every taste bud on the way down. Immensely tasty and creative…

Lure Fishbar – The One With The Onion Rings

As the name suggests, Lure is all about seafood, but that didn’t stop them from offering one of the city’s best burgers on their menu. The Lure Style Burger comes with “the works” and is topped off with very yummy and crunchy onion rings. Hmmmm….

The Burger Joint – The Hidden One

Unless a kind soul like me tells you about this awesome spot, there’s a good chance you won’t even know about this place. Hidden behind a curtain at Le Parker Meridian Hotel, this simple burger joint serves either burgers or cheese burgers, nothing else besides the fries and beverages. Classic and well cooked, don’t miss this one.

Milk Burger – The One In The Bronx

I live in the Bronx, I love this borough. Besides Staten Island it probably houses the most original New Yorkers, and the pizza is out of this world. My favorite burger place in the Boogie Down is Milk Burger. Serving clean and local food, the El Barrio Burger is my favorite there, with bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapeño sauce and a fried egg.

Juniper – The One In Brooklyn

One of my first stops as food blogger was in Williamsburg Brooklyn for this scrumptious Truffle Burger. This restaurant is plain and simple, it’s BYOB, it’s no nonsense, and the food rocks. The Truffle Burger comes with mushrooms, truffle oil and cheese of your choice, and is worth the trip over the Williamsburg Bridge.

Stout – The German One

I spend a lot of time at Stout during football season, it’s a fun spot. I am very critical once it comes to German food as a German national, so believe me when I tell you that their Bratwurst Burger is out of this world. It is served with sauerkraut, red cabbage and spice ale mustard, and the fries are pretty darn good too.

Black Tap – The Popular One

Black Tap is a restaurant that’s all about the burger. The menu has a healthy set of options available for everyone’s taste buds. My favorite there is the Steak Au Poivre Burger. It is served with Blue Cheese and a Green Peppercorn Sauce that will have you thinking you’re in an upscale steak house. Don’t forget to try one of their amazing milk shakes while visiting…

Five Guys – The Fast Food One

When you think burger, you usually think fast food, and there’s no shortage of that here in New York City. Some are better than others, and the quality has improved so much over the years. My favorite is hands down The Five Guys burger with lettuce, tomato and pickles, mustard, mayo and ketchup. Yaaassss…

Author: Gotham Foodie

Hello there, fellow foodies! My name is Erica, I was born and raised in Germany, and moved to the US, New York City to be exact, in July of 1987. I have worked most of my time here in the Big Apple as a bartender, but my true love is food. I cook just about every day, I search for good food everywhere, and pretty much always find it. I don't consider myself a food critic, I don't have the culinary background for that kind of expertise. I do however know good food, good chefs and good restaurants. I report back about my culinary adventures, and I choose to leave out my unsatisfactory experiences. We have enough negativity in our daily lives, I don't want to add to that. All the recipes in my FROM MY KITCHEN and DOTW blogs are cooked and prepared by me. All pictures are taken by me. I don't always eat everything you see in my pictures, but you bet your buns, I do try everything. Last but not least, you should know that I am a huge Top Chef fan. I have never missed an episode of the Bravo TV show. I have at this point visited almost 20 restaurants run by Top Chef contestants, and I'm continuously impressed by their skill, drive and passion. So I will continue to seek them out, and I hope you join me in my journey!
