Pre-Theater Dinners

Not everyone likes to read blogs, it’s ok, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, people are busy. But this blog is proof positive why everyone should read them. Because we do the research, and we provide valuable information. Going to see a Broadway show, or just generally visiting the Theater district? In the mood for upscale food, but are on a beer budget? Most New Yorkers avoid the Theater District, it’s too crowded, it’s neon lights, fast food and franchise restaurants, who wants to eat there? You do, after reading this article. Pre-Theater dinners are 3-course dinners at reputable restaurants that cater to the Theater goer, usually timed directly before the beginning of a Broadway show. These are unbelievable bargains.

DB Bistro Moderne

Daniel Boulud is a James Beard Award winning French chef that has several restaurants here in New York and the rest of the country. A few of his restaurants have Michelin Stars, so it’s fair to say that his food is outstanding. DB Bistro Moderne is one of his casual  restaurants, and is located on West 44th Street. Their Pre-Theater menu is served daily between 5 and 6 pm for $50 Dollars. The menu includes an amazing Steak Fritte and other French delicacies, so I found out for myself, and it’s unbelievable. I think it’s a must try!

The Russian Tea Room

The Russian Tea Room has been around for decades with a stellar reputation for excellence. Russian caviar and traditional dishes taken to a higher level are what comes to mind. Their menu is pricey for good reason, but for $65 Dollars you get a 3 course prix fixe meal that will knock your socks off. Luckily this Landmark restaurant participates in Pre-Theater dining, and even luckier for me I have a Russian friend that came with me to give it a try. She vouches for their authenticity, and we both vouch for immaculate flavor. The menu is being served daily from 4 45pm until 6 15 pm.

Limani

Limani is an upscale Mediterranean restaurant that offers yet another great Pre-Broadway dinner. This gorgeous restaurant serves amazing Greek fare, and their Tomato Salad is one of my favorite salads in the city. Their 4 course dinner starts at 4 pm and just recently has been extended to the whole evening. For $47 dollars be prepared to be wowed, but do allow a small extra charge for delicacies like lobster.

Author: Gotham Foodie

Hello there, fellow foodies! My name is Erica, I was born and raised in Germany, and moved to the US, New York City to be exact, in July of 1987. I have worked most of my time here in the Big Apple as a bartender, but my true love is food. I cook just about every day, I search for good food everywhere, and pretty much always find it. I don't consider myself a food critic, I don't have the culinary background for that kind of expertise. I do however know good food, good chefs and good restaurants. I report back about my culinary adventures, and I choose to leave out my unsatisfactory experiences. We have enough negativity in our daily lives, I don't want to add to that. All the recipes in my FROM MY KITCHEN and DOTW blogs are cooked and prepared by me. All pictures are taken by me. I don't always eat everything you see in my pictures, but you bet your buns, I do try everything. Last but not least, you should know that I am a huge Top Chef fan. I have never missed an episode of the Bravo TV show. I have at this point visited almost 20 restaurants run by Top Chef contestants, and I'm continuously impressed by their skill, drive and passion. So I will continue to seek them out, and I hope you join me in my journey!
