Bolognese

I love, love, love Bolognese sauce. My mom used to make the best one. Forever and a day I tried to make it just the way I grew up eating it. I tried recipe after recipe without luck, until I came across this one, and it’s everything and then some. It’s amazing and you’re welcome…

“Bolognese

What you’ll need:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1 large red onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp dried basil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (6oz) can tomato paste
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp Worcester sauce
  • 2 (28oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 oz parmesan cheese

Heat the oil in a large dutch oven. Add carrots and onions and cook for 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully mixed with carrots and onions. Add garlic, basil and oregano and cook for 5 more minutes.

Add tomato paste, stir. Add wine, Worcestershire sauce and canned tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Pour in milk and let it simmer for anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours! I personally add the parmesan cheese right into the sauce, while others prefer to add some on top of their dish, the choice is yours! Serve with pasta of your liking!

Bon Apètit!
