Copycat Recipe: Chick Fil A Mac and Cheese

Most of the time, I cook my own meals. I pick fresh ingredients, and even if it’s not exactly a healthy meal, at least I know I used good, fresh ingredients. But obviously, I am not allergic to the occasional fast food meal. Unfortunately, most fast food from chain restaurants are usually loaded with chemicals and preservatives. What’s a girl to do? Try to make it yourself of course. I learned how to make a Big Mac, and now I have learned how to make the Mac and Cheese from Chick Fil A. I just absolutely love it, and once I found this recipe, it honestly tastes just like it, and I’m so glad I found it. And of course I am sharing it with everyone. It’s still not exactly the lowest in fat or calories, but I made it with fresh ingredients, so that made me feel a little better. Maybe you can surprise your loved ones with this on the holidays!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 (16 oz) pack of elbow pasta
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp Romano cheese, grated
  • 4 oz Colby Jack Cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/4 pounds American Cheese, shredded

Cook the elbow pasta with some salt according to the instructions on the box.

In a medium pot, combine the heavy cream, evaporated milk, American Cheese, Parmesan and Romano cheeses. Stir until the cheese is fully melted.

Turn on the broiler. Add the pasta to the cheese mix and stir well. Pour into an oven proof casserole dish. Sprinkle with the Colby Jack Cheese. Place the dish into the broiler, and broil until the cheese just begins to brown.
