NYC Food Trucks

When I say I’m a foodie, I mean I love good food. I appreciate a Michelin Star restaurant, I seek out James Beard Award winning and renowned chefs, but make no mistake, good food doesn’t end there in my opinion. I work 40 hours besides writing this blog, and I’m forever on the go. Food trucks are a big part of my life. Over time I collected pictures and opinions, and I most definitely have my favorites. Below you will find a few of my go-to’s, all serving excellent food of great quality, and without question delicious.

Stuf’d

The Stuf’d Truck is all over the city. I first had a taste when there was a little food festival literally behind my house in the Bronx, and it was love at first bite! Pretty much everything they serve is made on some amazing bread! Savory sandwiches like cheeseburgers and Meatball sandwiches are prepared on twice baked challah bread with a panko crust, as well as sweet bites like S’mores Bites are all prepared on French Toast. This truck attends numerous festivals, and can be rented for special occasions.

Los Viajeros

Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas. These are words of love to me. I love me some good Mexican food, and you can only imagine how spoiled I am when it comes to good food. I first discovered this truck some two, three years ago, and it has only gotten better. Everything is fresh and made to order every time, and a full size restaurant has nothing on this truck. The truck varies locations in 4 of the 5 boroughs, and is available for catering and events.

Steak Freak

This food truck is just unbelievable. The steak (or chicken) comes in rice bowls, or with fries à la Steak Frites. The bowls have an Asian touch to it, and Szechuan or Teriyaki Noodle Bowls are available as well. This truck is on 50th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in Manhattan during the week, and a visit is a must if you find yourself in the area!

Wafels & Dinges

Need something sweet on the go? Wafels & Dinges serves Belgian Waffles with an array of toppings that satisfy any sweet tooth. The waffles are made right there in the truck (actually some are in more of a booth), and topped off with syrup, ice-cream, Nutella, nuts, whipped cream, dulce de leche, whatever your heart desires. Locations are to be found all over the city, and if you need them to cater an occasion, you are in luck, they will accommodate.

Mr. Bing

This truck is fairly new on the streets of NYC, and brings us something most of us probably never tried! Being of Chinese heritage, the star here is a crepe of some sort, made of bean, rice and wheat flour, coated with egg, sesame seeds, scallions and hoisin sauce amongst other asian goodies. You get to pick the “add-on”, ranging from Drunken Chicken to Roast Pork, even a vegetarian option is available, served folded like a crepe with a side of pickled cucumber salad. It’s delicious and refreshingly different.

Author: Gotham Foodie

Hello there, fellow foodies! My name is Erica, I was born and raised in Germany, and moved to the US, New York City to be exact, in July of 1987. I have worked most of my time here in the Big Apple as a bartender, but my true love is food. I cook just about every day, I search for good food everywhere, and pretty much always find it. I don't consider myself a food critic, I don't have the culinary background for that kind of expertise. I do however know good food, good chefs and good restaurants. I report back about my culinary adventures, and I choose to leave out my unsatisfactory experiences. We have enough negativity in our daily lives, I don't want to add to that. All the recipes in my FROM MY KITCHEN and DOTW blogs are cooked and prepared by me. All pictures are taken by me. I don't always eat everything you see in my pictures, but you bet your buns, I do try everything. Last but not least, you should know that I am a huge Top Chef fan. I have never missed an episode of the Bravo TV show. I have at this point visited almost 20 restaurants run by Top Chef contestants, and I'm continuously impressed by their skill, drive and passion. So I will continue to seek them out, and I hope you join me in my journey!
