#DOTW: Lychee Margarita

Summer is slowly coming to an end, and it would be a crime not to post another Margarita. So, Lychee it is. Of course in my opinion any Margarita is a good Margarita, but once you combine it with Lychee, you really can’t go wrong. I’ve seen many recipes for this cocktail (including one containing gin, so weird), but as a bartender I like to stick to basics. This is a traditional recipe with one of the ingredients being exchanged for Lychee puree. It’s simple and delicious.

Cheers!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 1/2 oz Patron Silver (or quality tequila of your choice)
  • 1  1/2 oz Lychee puree
  • 1 oz sour mix
  • 1/2 oz Rose’s lime juice

To make Lychee puree, add a whole can of Lychees to a blender and blend well. To make these Margaritas on the rocks or in a Martini glass, strain the liquid and discard the pulp. For frozen ones, you can you the whole liquid. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well. A) pour over ice, B) pour into Martini glass, or C) add to a blender with ice, blend, then pour the mixture into a frozen cocktail glass. I like to add a touch of fresh lime juice, which cuts the taste of alcohol. Be sure to rim the glass with crystal or rock salt, and garnish with a slice of lime!
