Cajun Shrimp

In light of my upcoming trip to New Orleans, I figured let’s make something Cajun. And there you have it: Cajun Shrimp. I anticipated this to be a difficult task, but it was undoubtedly one of the easiest dishes I ever made. Of course you can just go and buy your Cajun seasoning, but I investigated, and it turns out that it’s very simple to make on your own. I made these shrimp in my frying pan, but you can easily make these on a grill as well.

What you’ll need

Cajun seasoning:

  • 6 tbsp paprika
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp white pepper
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp cayenne

2 pounds shrimp

1 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

Marinate the shrimp in the olive oil and Cajun seasoning for at least 10 minutes. Place on a hot grill (or frying pan) and cook until just pink and opaque. I served these with Emeril Lagasse’s potato salad, and it was scrumptious!

Bon Apètit!
